About me
I am a Professional Supervisor based in Essex. I gained my Diploma in Supervision for Sign Language Interpreters and Allied Professionals in 2022. I offer Professional Supervision to interpreters/translators and to anyone who works in a ‘people-facing’ profession. I offer an initial consultation free of charge to discuss what you would like to gain from supervision and how we can best work together.
Supervision allows practitioners to reflect on their practice in a confidential, non-judgmental, open, and honest space, in a mutually respectful professional manner. It creates dedicated space and time to reflect on any decisions you have made and to discuss any issues, emotions and dilemmas that may arise.
Since my arrival in the U.K. in 1998 I have concentrated on perfecting my English language skills. I studied English at Braintree College (Essex) from 1999 till 2004. During this period I passed FCE, CAE and CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) UCLES (University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate). I also hold a degree in science from Moscow State University where I majored in Geology from 1992 till 1997.
Having passed the Metropolitan Police Test (also known as DPI, Diploma in Police Interpreting) in 2005 I joined the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI). Since then I have been working as a freelance interpreter/translator within the Criminal Justice System. I have been providing my services for a number of various institutions including Crown Courts, Magistrates’ Courts, Police forces (including Metropolitan Police), Probation Services, HM Prison Services (including mental health assessments), Immigration and a number of Criminal Defence Solicitors.
In 2011 I graduated from London Metropolitan University where I received training in simultaneous interpreting and was assessed and advised by the EU’s interpretation trainers. Having successfully completed the approved postgraduate programme I was awarded the degree of Master of Arts.
I have since been working as a conference as well as public service interpreter, providing my services for various business meetings, seminars and conferences, having over 300 hours professional experience in conference booth.
Since 2010 I have also been working as a business consultant for the UK, France and China based manufacturers of biocompatible materials and medical devices.
